Most people eat to live, but a sportsman must do so for his livelihood. For example, almost everyone admires the extraordinary capabilities of their favourite basketball stars. They run fast, jump high, and can do acrobatics while in the air. They pushed the limit of human capabilities in order to give us a great show.
Becoming good in sports requires that you have a body that is lean and strong, which can only be achieved by being able to control what you eat. Anyone whose job involves extreme physical exertion requires a lot of protein in their diet to rebuild tissues which get damaged during exercise. They also need enough carbohydrates to be able to work out. Now try finding those nutrients from fast foods! It is also important to remember that if they make one mistake in choosing their food, then they are going to have problems.
Because of this, some sportsmen strive hard to learn the art of cooking. There are many benefits that a health conscious individual can gain from being able to make his own food. First, a person who prepares his food can be sure that the ingredients he uses are fresh and will not be dangerous for his health. Second, he can choose his own combination of ingredients that suit him and his daily nutritional requirement. Finally, since they are the only ones who come in contact with their food during the preparation, these folks can avoid illnesses that can be transferred to food.
So the next time you see some amazing sports action, take time to appreciate what good food can do for the body.
