Do your kids love to stay with you in the kitchen while you prepare their meals? If they are, it means that they are interested to learn from you. In this case, you can start teaching them basic food preparation methods, which are not too complex for their level. If you are not sure which chores are appropriate for your young ones, you can get some insights below.
Toddlers (5 years and younger)
Yes, little ones belonging to this category can already help you cook because they want to feel useful like their older siblings. So, if you do not want them to feel left out, let them do simple tasks such as getting supplies from the fridge or pantry, pouring pre-measured ingredients into the container, and using the mixing bowl.
Grade School Kids (6 to 8 years)
Young ones in this age bracket are more capable in the kitchen; therefore, you can trust them to practise care while doing their obligations. Hence, you can let them measure sugar or flour in cups, peel vegetables, spread frosting on the cake, and roll the dough. While they are already adept at several cooking instructions, you should prevent them from using sharp tools.
Grade School Children (9 to 12 years)
Kids under this group are mature enough to help with most chores in the kitchen. If you supervise them well, they can already follow easy recipes, grate cheese, operate certain cooking appliances such as the stove and microwave, use a can opener, and cut vegetables.
Teens (13 and older)
