Those who have visited Thailand usually compliment the local cuisine due to the diversity and uniqueness of the dishes available. Some tourists even opt to enrol in a cooking school to take quick classes, just so they can bring a piece of the Thai taste when they go home. These establishments are therefore a fun and delicious way to learn about the culture and recipes of the kingdom.
Trying out food from the different regions of Thailand is as good as taking a tour around the country as each dish is a tale of the way of living and the geography of one of the five regions. Cuisine from the Central Plains includes rice noodles as a staple component. This is because this region is the heartland of the kingdom where abundant rice farms have made it one of the great suppliers of Asia. The South is famous for its islands which attract a flock of foreign visitors. Fish sauce, tropical fruits, seafood, and curries made of coconut milk are the main ingredients of their dishes. The North region became part of the Kingdom only during the late 1800s, so the locals have developed their own dialect and style of cooking. They have no coconut trees, so curry is made out of wild herbs. Spicy red meat, vegetables, and sticky rice comprise their daily meals. Roasting and broiling are the common preparation methods. Meanwhile, in Bangkok, you will find a plethora of original Thai snacks on the streets. Chinese and Indian influences are evident in their menus, as in the presence of the cuisine from all over the country.
